“White paint is my marble.”

Cy Twombly

commenting on his sculpture

I like materials that arrive with their own baggage, that come with associations with the real world. In my case, “my marble” IS marble, though reconstituted as marble dust in an acrylic medium, evoking antiquity and figurative sculpture, perhaps fragments of a fallen colossus, suggesting an architectural/archeological artefact, but also a common material metaphor for perfect skin. It has the appearance of bisque (unglazed) porcelain or alabaster, also suggesting skin, or plaster, used as a bandage or cast, a material of healing.
